Libraries and underutilized- especially interlibrary loan! Libraries basically have an insiders network where they share material with one another – and then YOU! So if there’s an article, book, book chapter, etc that’s not in your library’s catalogue, there’s still hope! Typically you can find the option to request it on the library website. And of course if you need help, as a librarian. I’ve found they’re truly awesome people who really like helping people! So don’t be shy!

And thank you libraries and librarians! (Special shoutout to St. Mary’s librarian Margot Hanson who is going to help introduce my students to interlibrary loan and other library resources that will help them with their writing assignments!)

I’ve gotten so many random old articles as well as current book chapters, etc. through interlibrary loan. It really is a great resource, that’s easy to use, but a lot of people either don’t know about it or, see that the library doesn’t have something so automatically just skip over it and try to find something else.
