In mass spectrometry, mass accuracy is how close a measured mass is to the exact, true, mass. It’s measured in ppm and defined as:

(true mass – measured mass)/true mass x 10^6 ppm

So, a small number is good. And, if it’s good enough, it can allow you to determine an ion’s empirical formula (number of each atom)
